GUMBOOT DANCING on the move...

The experience of travelling the world through gumboots dancing I speak to Sihle Magadla and Andile Mazala

Ladies and gentleman in this article I would like to express the love Kliptown Youth Program has had through gumboots dancing, I’m not speaking about the love it receives from its place of origin (South Africa) but internationally throughout the world.
KYP’s gumboot dancing has been so fortunate to be recognised by different countries in the world, I talk here France, China, USA , Re-Union Ireland and hitting Germany this coming June, the world is in demand to see it. This initiative of Gumboots dance started in 2010 when KYP gumboots dancers were spotted doing the beauty of the remarkable gumboot dance and were invited to perform it in China, and since then their travelling never stopped. Every year our gumboots dancers are invited internationally to blossom people’s hearts with the dance and the appreciation they receive is forever breathtaking, they sure know how to put a smile on someone’s face.
Just this past April KYP went on a tour to China, my friends Andile and Sihle were part of the trip, lets here what they had to say:
“We have never travelled to other countries in our lives but the first time we had to do that was through gumboots dancing. We use to be soccer players before but the first time we saw a gumboots dance performance we were wowed by the energy, the smile and the spirit it brings out of the audience and the performers themselves. This was not something we ever thought we will do in our lives but at this moment it is happening. Gumboots’ dancing has opened so many opportunities for us as young people; we have met very inspirational people from different parts of the world expressing their appreciation to us for the great work we doing. Another funny part about this whole experience is that, people are now calling us to come to their counties to teach them how to do gumboots dancing. It makes us happy to see how people value the gift we bring to their countries.”

The energy Andile pulls out of his face is scary and amazing at the same time. They love what they are doing.
Please allow me to share with you this amazing fact, KYP is a non profitable organization that helps 460 young people from Kliptown move out of poverty through empowering them with education. With this KYP’s gumboots movement has come as a great fundraising tool to fulfil goals set to achieve the needs for the youth KYP works with.
If KYP receives help to change lives of the youth living in poverty through gumboots dancing then I say gumboots’ dancing is contributing so much in the society...
Now don’t you just love it..
